Water heater safety tips

Ask Atlanta plumbers and they’ll tell you right away that hot water heaters are a necessary part of any home but having some knowledge about them helps to keep everyone inside safe and sound.

These plumbing in Atlanta professionals know all about your sewer line, faucets and sinks and tubs where this hot water flows into, but they also know that proper venting is an important part of making sure your hot water heater is working properly.

For example, it’s necessary to make sure this vent takes the straightest route out of any home. Going up and out is the best here. Some vents take little detours like up, over and out and these can create a possible safety hazard over time.

The whole idea is to avoid what’s called back drafting where the fumes go back side the house rather than escape to the outside where they are safely discharged. Make sure the vents are secured to the wall properly here as well. That means it’s important to be sure that at least three screws are used to prevent the connection from coming loose and carbon monoxide from leaking back inside your home.
