When do I need a water heater

When do I need a water heater

Most people do not realize the  need a water heater until its to late an the damage is done.
On the average a good brand like RHEEM or A.O.SMITH will be your best bet. These heaters have a great track record as being the Best on the market and just about every plumber will tell the same .
Stay away from the cheaper ones at the large Discount stores. They only last about 3 years and you
will be doing this again. If your water heater is around 9 to 10 years old its time to start thinking
about getting a new one. They are so much more efficient than the old ones. Usually the first sign
is a little water trail at the bottom of the heater which means its rusted out and time to get a new
one. Most standard installs with the heater and everything up to code will run you about $700 to
$750.00. That's a good fair price for a quality water heater. The other plus is that the new heaters
are so much more efficient and have a faster recovery rate and no more matches. They are sealed
units now and you lite them just like you would a grill with a electric igniter.

Toilets that make noise

Are your toilets making a gurgling noise

Ever been walking down the hall way and heard a gurgling noise coming from the
bathroom toilet. Well this is your first warning that something very bad is about to happen
to your home. When you hear this gurgling it means that the sewage drain line s inn your
house are just about ready to spill out into your shower or bathtub or even worse overflow
the toilets and onto your floors. The first thing you need to do is call your plumber and have
your drains cleaned out. At this time of the year the weather is so hot that all the tree roots and
bushes in the front yard are searching for water that are in the sewer line and your water lines.
After awhile the roots make it to the pipes and crack the pvc pipe. Once the pipe is cracked
the roots begin to multiply like crazy causing your drain to start clogging up an thats when
you hear that toilet start gurgling inside. Do Not wash any clothes or take long showers
you will flood your house. Keep your ears open for these sounds and save yourself a big
nasty mess in your home.

High water bills are everywhere

If your water Bill has gone up in the last few weeks you might need to do this test to see
if your water line is leaking. First turn off the main shut off valve inside your house, its usually
next to the water heater. Then go down to the street and find your water meter. It will be a rusted oval lid. Open it  and inside you will see a meter with a glass dial with numbers and a clock arm. Look for a little triangle, it will be red, black or white. If it is moving then you know you have a leak between the meter and the gate valve inside the house. Then you would need to have your water line repaired. If it only moves when you open the valve back  then you should start by checking all of your toilets until you find which one is running. Remember a running
toilet could bump your water bill up a $100.00 easy. This will only take about 20 minutes of
your time and could save you MONEY.
